Explanation
In this verse, the Apostle Paul reminds believers that the battles we face in life are not only physical or human struggles but also spiritual ones. In the final chapter of his letter to the Ephesians, Paul gives practical instructions for how believers should live, including guidance for families, relationships, and daily conduct.
As Paul concludes the letter, he introduces the well-known teaching about the armor of God, encouraging believers to be spiritually prepared for the challenges they face. This verse explains why that preparation is necessary.
Paul makes it clear that our ultimate struggle is not against other people. Just as a soldier prepares for battle with proper equipment, believers are called to equip themselves spiritually in order to stand firm in faith.
